Reclaiming spaces: Women of Colour excelling in Sports & Business Phyll Opoku-Gyimah, Co-founder and Executive Director at UK Black Pride  Phyll Opoku-Gyimah also known as Lady Phyll, is the co-founder and Executive Director of UK Black Pride, the award-winning celebration for Black LGBT communities to take pride in their ethnicity and sexuality. She is also a Stonewall trustee and Rainbow List Judge. She is also the   Head of Political Campaigns & Equality at PCS Union and  also  sits on the race relations committee of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), works with race equality think tank  Runnymede , and is a trustee of LGBT-rights charity Stonewall She set up the organisation after coming to the realisation there was a lack of space for Black LGBT men, women and trans people to foster a sense of pride in their identities. Previously a management consultant at an internationally renowned consultancy, she has extensive work experience in the US, the UK, and Germany. With an MS in economics and a doctorate in motivational psychology, she is able to bring together economic and business sense with a deep knowledge of what drives people's behaviour. Further, she is the founder of OYA: Body-Mind-Spirit Retreats, a project bringing yoga, mindfulness and other wellbeing practices to women of colour communities. Kelechi is an actress, personal trainer and an instructor of Pole dance as well as Twerk. In September 2016, Kelechi opened her own  studio  as a way of highlighting the faces and bodies that are often erased within mainstream fitness culture. Kelechi uses her classes and the workshops that she facilitates as a vehicle to move women towards an unbreakable relationship between their mind and body. Some may refer to Kelechi as a "twerk and fitness guru" which she wholeheartedly embraces, but ultimately Kelechi sees herself as a professional Baby Girl and a Benz Punani Womanist. Reclaiming spaces: Women of Colour excelling in Sports & Business Danusia Francis, International gymnast, 2012 Olympic reserve for GB, NCAA National Beam champion and TV Presenter Danusia Francis represented Jamaica and GB in gymnastics, reserve for the 2012 Olympics and is the NCAA balance beam champion for UCLA 2016. She also competed for the UCLA Bruins and the Jamaican national team. Danusia has put together a  unique presentation , which is focused on beam confidence, floor performance and the psychological aspects of competing. As well as a beam and floor workshop for the gymnasts to participate in. Followed up by a Q&A and time for photos and autographs. Reclaiming spaces: Women of Colour excelling in Creative Industries & Education Sobia Afridi, Brookes Bridges Manager, Oxford Brookes University  Sobia Afridi has worked in higher education for 22 years, on many different projects. This has included events such as the Step Up Conference, an event for Black and Minority Ethnic students with guest speakers who worked to motivate, engage and inspire the students. She was also involved in setting up the Asian young girl’s project to break down the barriers and myths that some Asian parents have and make it clear that higher education is accessible to Pakistani and Bangladeshi girls without compromising their religion. She currently runs a project at the Oxford Central Mosque which aims to improve attainment in Maths and English and to increase students’ confidence at school.
